Region track meets are scheduled for Salem and Glenvar teams this week, with the Highlanders hosting the Region 2C meet.

Salem was scheduled to run in the Region 4D meet on Tuesday at Millbrook High School. Results were too late for publication.

Glenvar is scheduled to host the Region 2C meet at Highlander Stadium on Friday, but that was up in the air at press time with thunderstorms predicted for midday Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am but it could be moved back to Saturday.

The Highlanders ran in the Three Rivers District meet at Floyd County last Thursday. In the boys’ meet Tyson Hobbs took second in both the high jump and long jump and was third in both the 100 and 200 meter runs. Matthew Johnson was third in the 110 hurdles and fourth places went to Tre Dawyot in the 200, Aldin Smith in the 1,600 and Asher Faught in the 3,200.

For the girls, Sophia Hammersley won the 100 hurdles in 17.72. Anna Hall took second in the 1,600 and third in the 800. Kailee McDonald was third in the high jump and Jade Evans took third in the 100 hurdles.
