When members of Salem’s State Championship Forensics and Debate teams were summoned to the office on May 30, the final day of school, United States Congressman Ben Cline was waiting on them.
The House of Representatives member presented the students with congressional plaques noting their accomplishments during the 118th session of congress. Cline also spent more than 30 minutes talking to the students about their accomplishments, the end of the school year and their plans for the future. He told them that he also took part in forensics competition growing up.
The coach for both teams is Mark Ingerson.
