The Roanoke College baseball team remained undefeated on the young season with a four game sweep of Alfred State College last weekend at Salem Memorial Ballpark in Salem. The Maroons improved to 5-0 with the sweep and have three more home games this week.

Last Saturday Roanoke swept two seven innings games, 3-2 and 20-5. Nate Prince and Tyler Galloway had two hits each in the opener and Thomas Burgess pitched five innings, allowing one earned run to pick up the win.

In Saturday’s nightcap Roanoke scored five runs in the first inning and put the game away with 10 in the bottom of the sixth. Hector Orozco and Timothy Hootselle had three hits each and Orozco had a home run. Chase Booth picked up the win on the mound.

The Maroons swept a pair of seven inning games again Sunday, 4-1 and 9-7. Riley Fitzgerald allowed one run over five innings in the opener and Roanoke completed the four game sweep in the second game when they came from 7-6 behind with three runs in the sixth to pull out the win. Alec Jones and Liam Murphy drove in big runs in the sixth and Will Emerson picked up the win in relief.

The Maroons were scheduled to host Greensboro College on Wednesday. This Saturday William Peace is here for a doubleheader with the first game scheduled to begin at 11 am.
