The James I. Moyer Complex in Salem will be the site of two Roanoke College softball doubleheaders this week. The Maroons will host Salisbury University for two today at noon, then welcome Shenandoah University to town on Saturday for a 1 pm twinbill.

Roanoke is 9-5 after splitting a St. Patrick’s Day doubleheader at Ferrum College on Monday. The Maroons lost the first game, 4-1, but bounced back to win the second, 10-1.

Roanoke’s only run in the opener came in the third inning when Erin Gorschboth doubled and came around after two ground outs. Emily Wood scattered nine hits with six strike-outs to earn the win in the circle for Ferrum.

The Maroon bats came alive in the second game. Roanoke plated five runs in the third to break a scoreless tie as Gorschboth and Carsyn Michaels each doubled. The Maroons then pushed the lead to 8-0 with three runs in the fourth and tacked on two in the fifth.

Maggie McCray allowed just one hit with 11 strikeouts over her four innings, walking five. Grace Clary retired all three batters she faced in the fifth to close out the game.

Adriana Rivera finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and Kassidy Lancos had two hits and scored twice. Madison Cooke, Shaniya Lewis and Allie Bell hit doubles.
