Find out about a project to extend a section of the
Roanoke River Greenway approximately 4,785 linear
feet between Rotary Park and Apperson Drive (Route
11) in Salem. The project also entails building
approximately 485 feet of retaining wall between the
trail and the nearby apartment complex. A new
handicapped accessible parking area with
approximately five spaces would also be constructed
adjacent to Apperson Drive.

availability of appropriate personnel to answer your
questions.
If your concerns cannot be satisfied, VDOT is willing
to hold a public hearing. You may request that a
public hearing be held by sending a written request to
Mr. Chris Eggleston, Virginia Department of
Transportation, 731 Harrison Avenue, Salem, VA
24153, on or prior to April 14, 2023. If a request for a
public hearing is received, notice of date, time and
place of the hearing will be posted.
