Salem Police arrested three people on Sunday, Sept. 28 in connection with a business burglary and a series of thefts from vehicles in the western part of the city.

Police said officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress around 2 a.m. Sept. 28 in the 1100 block of West Main Street. During the investigation, officers and detectives located the suspects, placed them under arrest, and recovered stolen property.

Officers also found stolen firearms and other personal belongings that had been reported missing from vehicles in Salem and nearby localities. No weapons were used during the crimes, and no injuries were reported.

Those charged include:

  • Keya N. Kincaid, 19, of Christiansburg, charged with conspiracy to break and enter.
  • Jacob M. Palmer, 18, of Roanoke, charged with breaking and entering, wearing a mask to conceal identity, damaged property, and conspiracy to break and enter. Palmer also faces charges related to outstanding warrants from neighboring jurisdictions.
  • Michael L. Twiggs Jr., 21, of Roanoke, charged with breaking and entering, wearing a mask to conceal identity, damaged property, and attempting to elude law enforcement. Twiggs also faces charges stemming from outstanding warrants in other localities.

All three suspects were identified as the individuals responsible for the crimes and were taken to the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.

Police said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Authorities reminded residents to always lock their vehicles and avoid leaving firearms or valuables in plain sight.
