Salem High will be looking for a new girls’ basketball coach for the second year in a row. Berlyn Seitz, who coached the team in the recent abbreviated season, has been told she will not be retained as Spartan coach.
The Spartans got a late start under Seitz and played just seven games, finishing 2-5. The five losses were all to Patrick Henry and Pulaski, teams that went to the state championship games in their respective divisions, PH in Division 5 and Pulaski in Division 4.
“Covid brought a strange season to say the least,” said Seitz after the Spartans were eliminated from post-season play. “I think this is the type of year that the girls will look back on as an adult and think about how much they learned outside the game simply because of the unique circumstances and the opportunities we were able to embrace.”
