The Salem Red Sox will be home tonight to complete a three game series with the Frederick Keys. The Sox were rained out of the opening game of the series on Tuesday, and had a doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday night.

The homestand will continue this weekend with three games against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Friday’s game is a 7:05 pm start, Saturday’s first pitch is at 6:05 pm and on Sunday the Sox will play at 2:05 pm.

Salem came into the homestand with a 10-8 record, a half game behind the Lynchburg Hillcats in the Carolina League standings. The Sox playing four games at Winston-Salem last weekend, getting out of town with a split after winning Sunday afternoon, 6-4 in 10 innings.

The Sox came from behind twice Sunday, with homers from Bobby Dalbec and Jerry Downs. Salem plated three runs in the top of the 10th frame and held on. Winston-Salem (10-8) had a chance to hand Salem a second straight walk-off loss, bringing the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the 10th, but failed to convert.

Jake Thompson surrendered three runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings while fanning four. Algenis Martinez was sharp over three shutout innings, allowing just two hits and recording four strikeouts. Hunter Smith gave up an unearned run on two hits and a walk in 1.2 frames to pick up the win and Matthew Gorst threw one pitch to get one out and earn the save.
