The Salem Red Sox will wrap up a three game series with the Frederick Keys tonight at Haley Toyota Field, beginning at 7 pm.
Time is running out for the Sox if they hope to claim a spot in the Carolina League playoffs. Through Monday Salem was six games behind first place Lynchburg in the Northern Division second half standings with just 14 games left to play. In addition Potomac and Wilmington were also ahead of the Red Sox in the standings, making things even tough. Salem was 5-2 through their last seven games through Monday, and that included taking two of three from the Down East Wood Ducks in Salem over the weekend. On Sunday the Sox were able to claim victory in the closely-fought series, edging the Wood Ducks 5-4. Following tonight’s home game with Frederick the Sox will head out for their final road trip of the season, playing three games in Wilmington before head to Winston-Salem for four. They return home August 31 to wrap up the season
