
The Salem High cross country team was scheduled to run in the Region 4D meet on Wednesday as the paper went to press. The meet was at Millbrook High School and the top three teams and five runners not on those teams advance to the Class 4 state meet in Leesburg on November 8.
Salem ran in the annual Metro Cross Country meet in Blacksburg last week. North Cross swept both the boys’ and girls’ team championships while the Salem boys were third and the girls were sixth.
Two Salem boys made all-metro, Austin Prosser with a sixth place finish and John Stovall in ninth. Also scoring were Thomas Scharp in 16th, Grant Horner in 23rd and Gaven Horner in 28th. Enzo Coniglione of Hidden Valley won the race and North Cross had the next four finishers.
Kaitlyn Perkins of North Cross won the girls’ race and Salem’s Keeley Prosser was all-metro with a seventh place finish. Also scoring for Salem were Olivia Huff (21), Ashlyn Davis(33), Madesyn Grubb(36) and Harper Rocovich(37).
