More than 100 Appalachian Trail (AT) hikers enjoyed Friday’s and Saturday’s activities during Troutville Trail Days. Troutville Baptist Church and Troutville Church of the Brethren provided meals for the hikers, the Town Park was open for hikers to camp, there was free music and a number of vendors were set up in the park Saturday for hikers and the public. The churches served spaghetti dinners to 60 hikers Friday night and breakfast to 40 Saturday morning. The Sunshine Station was set up for breakfast Sunday morning for hikers as they left the park and returned to the AT. The Sunshine Station had 22 come by. The Church of the Brethren also held a worship service on the Town Park stage Sunday morning. “The hikers are so appreciative of the town’s hospitality and each year say it’s so much better than the widely-known Damascus Trail Days,” Lee Minnix of Sunshine Station said. Troutville Trail Days is an event that is part of the town’s designation as an Appalachian Trail Community.
