The Sandlot Super Bowl tournament semifinals are this Saturday and two Salem and two Glenvar teams are still alive.

In the 8U division Glenvar(DeHart) defeated North Roanoke last Saturday at Northside to advance to this week’s semifinals. The Highlanders will play Botetourt at 9 am at Bogle Field after Botetourt beat the Salem(Kesler) team in the quarterfinals. Franklin County and Hidden Valley will play in the other 8U semifinal.

In the 10U division Salem(Wininger) and Glenvar(Edmonds) will play in an 11:30 am game at Bogle, assuring at least one of the two will be in the Super Bowl. The Salem (Abbott) team lost to Glenvar in the quarterfinals. Cave Spring will meet Hidden Valley in a South County battle in the other 10U semifinal this Saturday.

In the 12U division Mike Jones’ Salem Spartans defeated North Roanoke at Glenvar’s Highlander Stadium last Saturday. Salem advances to an 11:30 am game at Northside this Saturday against Cave Spring(Baker). In the other semifinal Cave Spring(Ellis) will meet top-seeded Franklin County.

Saturday’s winners will compete in the Sandlot Super Bowl championship games at Salem Stadium on November 1. Action begins with the 8U game at 9 am followed by the 10U at 11 am and the 12U at 1 pm.
