The Town of Vinton will celebrate the re-opening of the downtown at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 29 at 10:45 a.m. at the Farmers’ Market stage on West Lee Avenue.
The town received $700,000 for downtown revitalization from a Community Development Block Grant provided by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development in 2012. The grant has funded new streetlamps, new streetscapes and furniture, new wayfinding and gateway signage, new storefront facades, and a newly renovated Farmers’ Market stage. It has also provided funding to local entrepreneurs through a revolving loan program, which will continue.
The most convenient parking to the Farmers’ Market is located at the Vinton Municipal Building at 311 Pollard Street. Due to the streets being blocked for the Dogwood Festival, attendees will want to take either West Virginia Avenue or Walnut Avenue to access the parking.
The ribbon cutting is part of the Dogwood Festival events in Vinton on April 29.
