ROANOKE – Come see the range of opportunities Virginia Western Community College offers at an open house on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., starting at the Student Life Center. No registration is required for the event.
The open house will showcase opportunities Virginia Western provides, whether just starting a college journey or looking to advance in a career. Visitors can explore the campus — including classrooms, labs, fitness center and more — and meet faculty from short-term credential, trades, healthcare and transfer programs.
“The Open House is all about connection — giving students a chance to explore programs, meet faculty and staff, and discover the opportunities waiting for them at Virginia Western,” said Recruitment Coordinator Allison Dooley. “Guests will have access to spaces that are typically unavailable to prospective students, making this a unique and engaging experience. We’re excited to welcome future students to campus and help them take the next step toward their goals.”
Visitors can see hands-on learning spaces such as the Crime Lab used in the Criminal Justice Program, Health Professions lab space with patient simulators, Cybersecurity Lab with demonstrations, Biotechnology and Engineering labs, and facilities for building trades and business programs.
Faculty will share insight about degree, certificate and workforce programs, including credentialing in healthcare and advanced manufacturing. Staff members will help provide answers about financial aid, scholarships and student support services.
Additionally, Virginia Western’s Military Student Center will celebrate its anniversary by providing free tacos to visitors at 4 p.m.
Virginia Western Community College is located at 3093 Colonial Ave. SW, Roanoke, VA 24015. While parking is available campuswide, Open House attendees are invited to enter campus near the Community Arboretum by turning from Colonial Avenue onto Winding Way, with parking available in Lot 9. Signs will direct visitors to the Student Life Center.
