The Roanoke College men’s soccer team will try to get out of a prolonged slump when they travel to Lynchburg Wednesday to take on Randolph College. The Maroons have lost their last six games to fall to 6-7 after starting the season 6-1 and nationally ranked.

Last Saturday the Maroons fell to Washington & Lee in Salem, 1-0 at Kerr Stadium. Roanoke has only scored one goal in the past six games while losing 2-0 three times and 1-0 in their last two.

After a back and forth first half last Saturday, which included a stellar diving save at the end of the half by Aidan McHugh to keep it level, W&L was the one to break through five minutes into the second half. The Maroons pressed on for an equalizer but were unable to find the answer. Lucas Pace led the team in shots with two while McHugh tied a season high in saves with five in the match.

The Maroons are home this Saturday to host Hampden-Sydney at 5 pm.

The Roanoke College women fell to 6-7-1 on the season with a loss to Washington & Lee in Lexington last Saturday. The Generals took a 4-0 win on Watt Field.

The Generals netted two goals in each half, with four different goal scorers. Grace Suchy made 15 saves for the Maroons and Rebecca Carr had three shots.

W&L improves to 10-2-1 on the year and 6-0 in conference play while RC is now 3-3 in the ODAC. The Maroons were scheduled to host Randolph College on Wednesday at 4 pm.
