Youth softball is over and baseball takes center stage at the James I. Moyer Complex this week.

The Roanoke Area Youth Softball Association(RAYSA) tournaments concluded last Friday at the complex. Salem had one champion, as the 16U girls went 3-0 to take first place. The 12U girls went 2-2 before they were eliminated in the semifinals and the 10U girls won their opener but lost the next two.

The Dixie League baseball AAA and O-Zone tournaments were scheduled to start Wednesday at the Moyer Complex, and Salem and Glenvar had teams involved in both tournaments.

The AAA tournament, for 10 and Under boys, included teams from Salem, Glenvar, North Roanoke, Vinton and Franklin County. Salem and Glenvar opened against each other on Wednesday, and tonight the winner will play at 6 pm against Franklin County and the loser will play at 8 pm against the loser of the North Roanoke-Vinton game.

The O-Zone tournament, for 12 and under boys, had Salem against Franklin County and Glenvar against Vinton in Wednesday openers. Also included in the tournament are Mt. Pleasant, North Roanoke and Craig County.

Both double elimination tournaments have championship games scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 pm. If the losers’ bracket survivor wins that game an “if game” will be played on Monday at 6:30 pm.
