Chad De La Guerrra of the Salem Red Sox slides home with a run in Saturday’s
doubleheader sweep

The Salem Red Sox are on the road this week, making stops in Buies Creek and Potomac before returning home to host the Frederick Keys next Monday.

The Sox had Monday off and they were sitting in first place, three games ahead of Lynchburg in the Carolina League’s Northern Division standings. Salem took three of four from Winston-Salem last weekend at Haley Toyota Field in Salem.

After Thursday’s opener was rained out Salem won 13-8 on Friday, then swept a doubleheader from the Dash on Saturday evening, 8-6 and 3-2. The Dash avoided a sweep with an 11-7 win over Salem on Sunday.

The Sox will wrap up a three game series in Buies Creek tonight, then head to Potomac for a weekend series. They’ll return to Salem Monday to open an eight game homestand, with three games each against Frederick and Myrtle Beach. Friday, May 19, is an Anthony Rizzo bobblehead giveaway.
