Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism held the Blue Ridge Kite Festival from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Green Hill Park on Saturday, April 20. The event marked the 23rd festival. Those present watched as the sky filled with thousands of colorful kites. Kite demonstrations were provided by the Richmond Air Kite Club, who flew kites and educated the public on various flying techniques. Free kites were made available by Anthem HealthKeepers. Vendors, which sold an array of kites, handmade artisan items and food, were also on-site. -Aila Boyd
