Over 325 students, parents, grandparents and friends came out this past Sunday to support Salem’s elementary school students at the annual Salem Elementary School Art Show, sponsored by the Friends of Salem Library and hosted at the Salem Public Library.

The artwork was created by students from all four of Salem’s elementary schools, with a total of 100 pieces of art on display. Paintings, sketches, collages and more were exhibited in the library’s meeting room created by students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Salem Gifted Education Coordinators Beverly Nicely and Chris Taibbi greeted students and their guests. Students with artwork on display were given a “featured artist” nametag to identify them as a guest of honor. Salem Elementary School art teachers Sarah Meadows and Ashley Harmon, as well as Diane Washenberger, Director of Instruction for Salem City Schools, were in attendance to meet and talk with the artists and their guests and to compliment the students on their tremendous artistic efforts and talents. Congratulations are extended to the students who worked so hard to create such beautiful works of art; the pieces on display generated many smiles from guests, teachers, librarians and library patrons!
