We have 2 WIENERS!!

We have lots of news this week as there are winners from two contests to announce.

Early deadlines for Thanksgiving didn’t give me enough time to correct the contest in the November 16 issue to announce last week, so we have that. AND, we also have a winner from the contest that appeared in the November 23 issue.

The winner for the 13th week of the contest, from November 16, is Salem’s Dickie Jennings of Chamberlain Lane in Salem. He had a fantastic week, missing just one game for the entire week. He picked all the high school and college games correctly and only slipped up on Minnesota’s win over the Rams. Nice job Dickie.

Last week’s winner, for week 14, is Roy Kendrick of Embassy Drive in Salem. Roy missed one game in each category, picking Liberty over Sherando, UVA over Tech and Jacksonville over Arizona on Sunday. But that was the best anyone did, as he beat out a couple others on the tie-breaker, which was 59 points scored by Oklahoma.

For their efforts Dickie and Roy will receive will receive the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s, a sub from Joe’s Deli, a gift certificate from Awful Arthur’s and a cap from Sportsman’s Warehouse. Nice job, guys.

For last week’s “One for the Road” contest I asked you to pick the score of the “Commonwealth Cup” game between Virginia Tech and Virginia in Charlottesville last Friday. The final score was 10-0 in Tech’s favor, and not a single contestant had either team scoring that few. The closest to the actual score was Christopher Nichols of Salem who picked the Hokies to win 16-10, so he gets the Atlas from Hettie Barnes of State Farm Insurance.

For this week’s “One for the Road,” give me your prediction for the ACC championship game between Miami and Clemson. Give me the winner and the score, and the closest to the actual result will get a beautiful United States Atlas from Hettie.      –Brian Hoffman
