The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce is holding its 20th Annual Blue Ridge Kite Festival this Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Green Hill Park in Roanoke County. The Richmond Air Force Kite Club is returning to amaze attendees with enormous handmade kites and extraordinary flying stunts.

Admission and parking to this event are free, and it is the perfect weekend activity for the whole family. Come enjoy the variety of food, arts, crafts and corporate vendors; relax on the lawn or test your own kite flying skills. The first 500 kids (12 and under) will receive a free event t-shirt, courtesy of the Chamber and many corporate sponsors, and a kite, courtesy of Yokohama.

The kid’s activity sponsors are Salem Parks & Recreation and Freedom First Credit Union. The Salem Civic Center is the Kite Club Sponsor. The Emergency/ Police sponsor is SERVPRO. The commercial display sponsor is Southwest Virginia Moving and Storage. The water sponsor is Wisler Plumbing, and they will be distributing free bottled water while supplies last. The hotel sponsor is the Holiday Inn-Tanglewood. Food sponsors include Chick- Fil- A of Salem and Domino’s of Salem. Q99 and WSLS are the media sponsors.

Pets are prohibited at Green Hill Park. For more information, contact the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce: www.s-rcchamber.org, director@s-rcchamber.org or 540-387-0267.
