Despite falling in the championship game of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament, the Roanoke College men’s lacrosse team has been invited to the NCAA Division III tournament. The tournament was set to open Wednesday with RC hosting Christopher Newport in the opening game.

The invitation marks the 20th time in school  history the Maroons will take part in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Maroons earned an at-large bid Sunday evening after posting a 14-5 overall record this season. CNU finished the season with a 14-4 record overall this season.

Last Saturday in Lexington fourth-seeded Lynchburg topped third-seeded Roanoke 13-8 in the 2018 ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship game on Saturday. Jason Sarro and IV Stucker each finished with two goals for Roanoke, while Ian Davies had nine saves in the cage for RC.

Last Friday the Maroons knocked off second seeded Hampden-Sydney, 14-8, to reach the championship game. Stucker finished with three goals and two assists. Conn Curry had four goals and an assist, while Hayden Miller had three goals and Sarro had two goals and two assists.

Curry, Davies and Stucker were all named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team.
