The Salem boys lacrosse team saw their season come to an end last Friday with a 13-10 loss at Midlothian High School.
The Spartans got off to a slow start, falling behind 6-0 at the outset. Salem outscored the Trojans for the rest of the game but weren’t able to catch up.
“We came out slow, which has been an issue for us all year,” said Salem coach Daniel Dyer. “But our guys never quit and I am proud of them for that. We finished the game till the clock hit zero and made a late surge, but it was not enough.”
Trent Cheyney, Zach Mason and Wyatt Whitlow all had two goals for the Spartans. Peyton Woodward had 12 saves in goal and Cheyney won 14 faceoffs.
“Cheyney was able to control the faceoffs which helped us throughout the game,” said Dyer. “Woodward did a great job in goal and made crucial saves as the game progressed.”
The loss ended Salem’s season at 12-6-1.
We finished the season 12-6-1.
