GHS girls fall to EM, open region next week

Rhyan Harris boots a corner kick for Glenvar.

The Glenvar girls are scheduled to open the Region 2C tournament next Wednesday at 1 pm at Bogle Field against an opponent to be determined. That’s Glenvar’s graduation day, so that may change before next week.
The Highlanders missed out on a chance to have a first round bye, and avoid graduation day, but they lost to Eastern Montgomery in Elliston on Monday in a game that cost them the bye. Rhyan Harris had Glenvar’s goal, assisted by Faren Wilson.
Last Thursday at Radford Harris and Wilson both had big nights in a 5-2 win over the host Bobcats. Harris had two goals and an assist, including a score on a penalty kick. Wilson put a corner kick in the cage and assisted on Harris’ first goal. Not to be outdone, Giuliana Stanely scored two goals and Megan Pomerleau had an assist.
The girls will take a 12-4 record into the region tournament.
