The Salem District 7 champion AAA All-Stars will open state tournament play this Friday at Patrick County-Southside Park in Martinsville. Salem will play in the six team Dixie Youth Division 2 tournament.
Action begins at 2:30 pm Friday when Dinwiddie American takes on Cumberland. Amherst will play Emporia-Greensville at 5 pm and Salem will play in the final game of the day at 7 pm against Lunenberg. The tournament is double-elimination and is scheduled to run through Tuesday, July 12, with an “if game” on July 13 if necessary.
The Glenvar coach-pitch team was also scheduled to play this weekend, but the Glenvar team had to pull out of the tournament due to a lack of players committing to attend.

Middle Row: Grant Martin, Landon Bell, CJ Goens, Wilson Dick, Tyler Coe and Aaron Brower. Back row, Coaches Blake Bell, Jud Cowling and Jimmy Winterer.
