Salem High School had seven athletes make the Class 4 All-State teams that were recently released by the Virginia High School League, including two members of the boys’ lacrosse team who were selected to the first team.
Graduated seniors Jake Massey and Will Hicks were both named first team selections on the All-State lax squad. Massey was named at attack while Hicks was a first team selection on defense. Salem’s Tanner Dallas, also a senior, was named to the second team at mifield.
On the All-Region 4D team Massey, Hicks and Dallas were all named to the first team along with senior midfielder Kyman Kinney. Second teamers from Salem were Carson Williams on defense, Micah Brown at long stick midfield and Trey Joyce in goal.
For the girls’ lacrosse team All-Region 4D first teamers were Addi Blanchard at attack, Zoe Blair at midfield, Reese Redford on defense and Brynn Bowen in the cage. Second teamers were Chloe Butt at midfield and Natalie Major on defense.
Salem had three girls selected to the Class 4 second team all-state in soccer, senior Annie Bond at forward, senior Audrey Hayes at midfield and junior Allison Kessell in goal. All three were named first team All-Region 4D and second team all-region Spartans included senior defender Kenley Coleman, freshman Avery Mangus at midfield and sophomore Brooke Bowers at forward. Junior defender Zada Craig was honorable mention.
On the River Ridge District team Bond, Hayes and Craig were named to the first team. Bowers, Mangus, Coleman and sophomore forward Abby Pitts were second team all-region.
In boys’ soccer freshman Logan Lavinder was a first team All-Region 4D choice. Second team honors went to senior Evin Lainez at forward and sophomore Max Benne in goal. Matteo Collins, Graham Fischer and Carter Work were all honorable mention.
In baseball senior Hunter King was named to the Class 4 second team All-State. Hunter was a first teamer on the All-Region 4D team and senior Trent Judd was named as a first team pitcher.
The All-River Ridge District team had Judd and King on the first team. Senior Hunter Bayne was second team all-district at third base and senior Ben Bowers was a second teamer at short.
In softball Salem had one All-Region 4D second team selection, freshman Cora Sparger in the outfield. Honorable mention went to senior Lily Lawson at first and DP-Flex, Sparger was named on the mound and fellow freshmen Caitlin Wells was at At-Large and Cora Robinson was named in the outfield and also At-Large.
Salem had no first team selections on the All-River Ridge team. Second teamers were Sparger, Lawson, Robinson, Wells and junior Bayleigh Booth at shortstop.
