ALMOND JOY!!!!

Football Contest 2022

The first football contest of the 2022 season is in the books and we have a winner. Rob Almond edged several others to take the cake, if he so desires, at Mac & Bob’s.
Almond missed just two games, and one was Old Dominion over Virginia Tech. NO ONE in the whole contest picked the Monarchs to win that game and for good reason. The Hokies went down there and got beat, then their locker room was robbed. Not a great start for the Brent Pry era.
Almond’s other miss was failing to pick Hidden Valley over William Byrd. A couple others also missed two but Rob was the closest to the high point total, which was 49 by Georgia over Oregon. If I had put Lord Botetourt on the contest someone else would have won, as the Cavaliers hung 70 on hapless Blacksburg. And did you ever think you’d say “hapless Blacksburg” about the once mighty Bruins? Goes to show you what can happen if you don’t pay attention.
For his win Almond will receive a fifty dollar gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s, and it’s up to him if he gets cake. He’ll also receive a blizzard from Dairy Queen in Salem, so this win has the potential to fatten up old Robert a little bit.
For this week’s contest we have the first pro games of the season, and we have some good ones. In fact, the whole contest is full of close games so I’ll be real surprised if two losses will be enough to win this week.
Still no Quick Change question. Hopefully our advertising department is workin’ on it. I’ll keep you posted.
