The Salem High golfers advanced to the Region 4D tournament with a second place finish in the sub-regional at the Danville Golf Club Monday.
The top two teams from the sub-regional advanced to regional play and Blacksburg was the team winner with a score of 291. Salem was second at 305, eight strokes ahead of third place Halifax County to qualify for the regional.
Salem’s Kathryn Ha was the medalist at Danville, shooting a two-under-par 68. Macy Johnson shot 76 and also scoring were Trace Monroe with an 80 and Taylor Davis with an 81. Davis played despite flying in from California overnight after playing a special event there.
“Taylor left California and arrived in Charlotte at around 6 pm,” said Salem coach Thad Snyder. “She arrived in Roanoke around 8 am and was in Danville for the shotgun start at 11:30.”
The regional will be played at Ivy Hill Golf Club in Forest on Tuesday, October 4. The top two teams from the regional will advance to the state tournament.
