The Class 4 state, Region 4D and River Ridge District end of season honors have been announced for boys and girls soccer and Salem had players on the region and district teams. Salem did not have any selections on the boys’ or girls’ all-state teams. Jefferson Forest had four first team selections as well as the Player of the Year, Tyler Beck, and the Coach of the Year, Scott Zaring. Salem lost to Jefferson Forest, 1-0 in overtime, in the Region 4D tournament.
Logan Lavinder was a first team All-Region 4D selection from Salem and the Spartans had three boys on the second team, Anthony Rugama, Graham Fischer and Max Benne. All four were first team All-River Ridge District along with Elijah Clark, and Lavinder was the RRD Player of the Year and Salem’s Dave Atkins is the district Coach of the Year. TJ Fisher and Keidman Gulfan made the second team. For the girls, Laikyn Funk and Abby Pitts made the All-Region 4D second team and Eliza Fleenor was Honorable Mention. Funk, Pitts, Fleenor and Avery Mangus made first team AllRiver Ridge District while Anna Haley made the second team.
