It was a big time for Glenvar youth baseball teams at Green Hill Park last weekend as Glenvar took championships in three of four classes of the Roanoke Area Youth Baseball Association, and Glenvar wasn’t entered in the one they didn’t win.
The Glenvar Gold team, coached by Hunter DeHart, won the 8U championship while the Glenvar 10U team, coached by Matt McGuire, prevailed in the 10U bracket.
Salem, coached by Jud Cowling, and Glenvar had split two games and played for the 10Uchampionship Monday with Glenvar jumping on top early and taking a 21-5 win. In the 12U tournament Brad Melton’s Glenvar team beat Vinton in the final, 12-7, to take the championship. Franklin County won the 15U tournament. Neither Salem nor Glenvar had a team entered in the 15U tournament.
