The Andrew Lewis track teams competed against Ben Franklin and Hidden Valley Middle Schools to open the outdoor sea-son at Salem High School last week.
The girls were led by top scor-er Nyla Otey, who won the 100 meter hurdles and took second in the 200 meter dash. Lilliana Dean won the 100 meter dash, while Alayna Lewis won the 300 meter hurdles.
Micayla Black won the Discus throw. McKenzie Eversole, Amelia O’Brien, Jo’hanna Nugent, and Olivia Huff took first in the 1600 meter relay and Anna Doyle, Malayla Ruley, Malaya Thompson, Jasmine Bond, Amoria Correll, and Olivia Lam all scored points for the Wolverines.
The boys were led by dou-ble winner Dustin Peters, who won both hurdle races. Ji’Zaiah Haynes won the 100 meter dash while Eli Yates placed in three events. Riley Ennis, Caleb Hicks, Trent Fogel, Aaron Langfitt, Takawn Brown and Harrison Yarborough all placed for the Wolverines.
This week the Salem High track will be the site again as Lewis was scheduled to host Glenvars and Read Mountain on Wednesday evening.
