The Lady Highlanders tennis squad opened their season last Friday against Northside at the GHS tennis courts with an 8-1 victory over the Vikings.
Singles winners for Glenvar were Riley Price, Rebecca Magruder, Karis Gillespie, Rayah Kelley and Julia Carroll. Doubles victories went to the teams of Magruder and Shawna Garwood, Price and Gillespie and the duo of Kelley and Chelsea Garwood.
“The girls have been working hard in prac-tice and that showed in the results,” said coach Shannon Hall. “We’ll continue to build on our strengths and improve on our weaknesses as the season progresses.”
Glenvar will be back on the court on April 4 at Patrick County. The boys, who started the season 2-0, will host Patrick on the same day.
