The Salem High girls soccer team suffered their first loss of the season when they fell to Cave Spring at home Tuesday, 2-0. The loss dropped Salem to 3-1.
“Proud of how they competed, but unfortunately we didn’t execute well enough in this one,” said Salem coach Justin Applegate.
The loss follows a 4-1 win over Lord Botetourt in Daleville last Friday. Laikyn Funk and Aly Price had two goals each for Salem. Rosie Horne had two assists and Funk and Emma Elder had one each. Karis Guy had 10 saves in goal.
The Spartans will hit the road Friday for a game at Blacksburg. Next Tuesday, April 15, they play at Hidden Valley.
