The Glenvar tennis teams will take Radford in key Three Rivers District matches Friday. The boys will be home and the girls are at Radford.
The boys lost a big district match at Floyd County last week, 7-2. The Buffaloes are considered district favorites but Glenvar gave them some tough matches.
“We had a lot of close matches,” said GHS coach Bob Haynie. “Floyd won three matches easily, Glenvar won two. Four matches came down to the wire and Floyd won all four to get the team win.”
The boys beat Carroll County on Friday, 8-1. The Highlanders will host Floyd for a much anticipated rematch next Monday.
The girls are 5-4 after losing to Floyd and their match at Carroll County on Thursday was suspended by rain with the Highlanders winning five of six singles matches when things came to a halt.
