Gertrude May Robertson, 98, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.  Born on May 18, 1927, to the late Robert Lee and Edna Bland Walters, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Deaton Robertson, Sr.; brothers, David Walters,

William “Buck” Walters and Bobby Walters; as well as her sister, Peggy Hundley.

Mrs. Robertson was a homemaker who loved her family and made their house into a home.  She had a selfless and giving spirit and enjoyed volunteering and bringing a little sunshine to those at Lewis Gale Medical Center.  She also loved her church family and

loved serving and being a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Salem.  Mrs. Robertson loved books and was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed traveling with her friends to many nascar races and cheering for their favorite drivers.  Above all, she adored her family and greatly enjoyed time spent with them.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sister, Carol Cale; children, Dianne Shibley, Robert Robertson, Jr. and Ronald Robertson; grandchildren, Christopher Shibley (Colleen), Eric Shibley, Connie Robertson (Amy), Kimberly Thunstrom (Cliff), Cammiel Gardner and Whitney Hubbard (Curt); as well as many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of both The Carrington Cottages Memory Care and Innovage Pace for their compassionate care and loving kindness shown to both Mrs. Robertson and their family.

The inurnment will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the cremation garden at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
