The Andrew Lewis football team remained undefeated after two games with a win over Patrick Henry last week while the Lewis seventh graders defeated Glenvar.
Lewis’ eighth grade team won at Salem Stadium, 30-8. The offense was led by running backs Zyere Richardson and Zaire Reynolds, who ran successfully into the interior of the Patriot defense.
“The offensive line of Grant Martin, Maddox Saunders, Tyler Coe, Elijah Rega, and Ernest Burke continued to come off the ball and move the defense,” said Lewis coach Brian Hooker. Quarterback Pearce Oliver threw a touchdown pass to Carter Webb in the corner of the end zone to open the scoring for the Wolverines. Malalki Garner demonstrated his versatility playing tight end, linebacker, defensive back and quarterback in the game.
On the defensive side Amir Franklin, Lamikeal Stacy, Ian Rosier and Alijah Robinson all performed well in limiting the Patriot offense to just one score.
On the same night the Lewis seventh graders also improved to 2-0 with a 31-15 win over Glenvar Middle School at Highlander Stadium. Maclin Hale passed to Aaron Brower for two scores and Brower threw a touchdown pass to Landynn Booth. For Glenvar, Kiptyn Jones ran for a touchdown and Bryson Kuzmich caught a ball from Max Milette for a score.
The Lewis eighth graders were scheduled to play at William Fleming Wednesday. Glenvar Middle is home to Patrick County today at 6 pm.
