
Salem High senior Mason Hale has committed to play baseball at Ferrum College next year. A centerfielder for the Spartans, Mason had an outstanding junior season that saw him earn first team All-River Ridge District and first team All-Region 4D honors as well as second team All-State in Class 4. Mason hit .431 for the season for Salem along with a .518 on base percentage and a .569 slugging average. He had 31 hits, including eight doubles, while driving in 25 runs and scoring 25. He also stole 16 bases without being caught. Ferrum has moved to Division II in the NCAA beginning with this school year.
