
The Salem High girls will put their undefeated record on the line tonight when they head to Cave Spring. Salem is 6-0 after winning at Northside Tuesday night.
The Spartans are on a roll. They beat Northside in three sets Tuesday, 25-11, 25-19 and 25-11. They won two matches at home last Saturday, defeating Magna Vista and William Byrd.
Against Magna Vista Salem won in four sets as Gabby Crawley led the Spartans with eight kills and four blocks while Kourtney Goens had seven kills and four blocks. Serving was led by Bailey Redford with 21 attempts and two aces, Bailey Martin with 13 attempts and Emory Coe with 10 attempts and two aces.
In the afternoon Salem beat Byrd in three close sets, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-23. Parker Price had nine kills and two blocks and Emme Custer had six and two. Olivia Crosswhite served up six aces for the Spartans and Ashlin Hudson had four.
“Overall it was a great day shared with William Bird, Magna Vista and Allegheny,” said Salem coach Doug Eller. Alleghany did not play Salem but beat Magna Vista in three sets.
Salem will be back home this Saturday for another tri-match as E.C. Glass and Mecklenburg come to town. Salem will play Glass at 10 am followed by Glass and Mecklenburg at 11:45 am and Salem and Mecklenburg at 1:30 pm.
