Joshua McClary, a mainstay on the Roanoke College men’s basketball team the last four years, has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Portugal for Ginásio Clube Figueirense.
The All-State and All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Defensive Player of the Year, McClary averaged a team-best 17.8 points, 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game in 2024-25. He was named co-Roanoke College Male Athlete of the Year and was also a first-team all-state and All-ODAC honoree. McClary took home second-team NABC District 6 accolades and second-team Region 6 honors from D3hoops.com. He ended his RC career ranking 29th in points, second in assists and eighth in steals.
“I’m really happy for Josh, he’s deserving of this,” said Roanoke College head coach Clay Nunley. “Anyone who has been around our program has seen the work he’s put in, and anyone who’s watched us play can recognize his talent and abilities as a player. It’s a great success story – he arrived as someone with strong potential and graduated as a First-Team All-ODAC player who will now play professionally. We are excited to watch the great things he will do in Portugal and are proud of all that he’s accomplished.”
