It’s Clark Bar None

Do you know how you can tell Dan Quinn is doing a good job in Washington? Two years ago no one was picking the Commanders to win and now almost everyone is. Almost, that is.

On most years I would have had to wait until late Monday night to see who won the Washington-Chicago Monday Night Football game to decide who our contest winner for the week would be. Not this week, however, as EVERYONE who entered picked Washington over Chicago with one exception. That was last week’s winner, Tyler Coe, and although he got the Bears correct he missed six others so he wasn’t in the running.

Several contestants missed three, counting the Washington loss, so this week’s contest went to the tie-breaker, as it usually does. The high point total for this week was 48 by Marshall over Old Dominion and our old buddy Marvin Clark was closest to that among the folks who missed three. So, Marvin will get this week’s $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s.

And speaking about doing a good job, who is doing a better job than Craig County football coach Jimmy Fisher? He has the Rockets off to a 6-0 start, their best in the history of the school. Last week’s “19th Hole” question was who would win between Craig and East Mont and the Rockets crushed it, winning 44-6. The closest to that total was Pam “The Little General” Cassell who guessed 44-0, so she gets a free day of golf at the Academy Street course in Salem.

I doubt if three misses is going to win this week, because there’s a bunch of tough games among the 15. Getting back to where we started this story, with Dan Quinn and Washington football, let’s do the Redski…COMMANDERS game against Dallas for our 19th Hole this week. Pick the score of that game, put it in the space provided and you may be teeing it up for free in a week or so.
