
The Roanoke College men’s soccer team was scheduled to finish their season on Wednesday of this week with a home game against Guilford.
The Maroons did not make the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament, which is set to begin Saturday with the quarterfinal round. Roanoke was 1-7 in ODAC games prior to Wednesday’s game with the Quakers.
It’s been a tough season for the Maroons, who opened the season 6-1 and cracked the NCAA national rankings. Roanoke then lost nine of the next 10 to fall to 7-10 overall. In those nine losses they were shut out eight times and scored one goal in the other game.
Last Saturday in Virginia Beach the Maroons dropped a 1-0 decision to Virginia Wesleyan, their fifth 1-0 loss of the season. Last Wednesday at home they lost to the University of Lynchburg, also 1-0.
