The Salem High volleyball team was scheduled to open the Region 4D South sub-region tournament on Wednesday at E.C. Glass. Salem is the third seed in the five school sub-region.
Results were too late for publication, but if the Spartans won Wednesday they would advance to a game next Monday against the winner of top-seeded Amherst against either Jefferson Forest or Mecklenburg. The Region 4D championship is November 12 when the South and North winners play, and both advance to the state Class 4 tournament.
Salem comes into the region tournament with a 13-7 record.
