The Roanoke wrestling team opened the season last Sunday by hosting the 2025 Southeast Open in the Cregger Center. The competition included a field with Division I, Division II and Division III teams. Competing unattached for ‘Noke Regional Training Center’, the Maroons had eight place winners between the freshmen/sophomore and open divisions. Mac Cafurello placed fourth in the open division at 125 pounds while the Maroons had four wrestlers in the freshman/sophomore division place second: Jude Robson (133), Jonah Paulino (141), Jackson Rowling (149) and Brock Sullivan (184). Taylor Smith was second in the Fr./So. bracket at 149 pounds, Casey Smith took fifth at 157 pounds and Xavier Preston was also fifth at 174 pounds. Roanoke will next be in action next Sunday at the Averett University Cougar Classic.
