The Glenvar High School boys’ cross country team delivered a dominating performance last week, capturing the VHSL Region 2C Championship at Greenfield Recreation Park in Daleville.
Glenvar was led by a 1-2 finish from seniors Aldin Smith and Tyler Davis. Smith won the race with a time of 17:23 and Davis was right on his heels at 17:25. The victory was cemented by the team’s depth. Freshman Zachary Elijah Davis finished eighth overall (18:01.36). He was followed by juniors Asher Faught in 9th (18:05.18) and Evan Harris in 10th (18:08.78), closing out the Highlanders’ scoring. Glenvar’s entire varsity squad ran good times with juniors Casey Weeks (22nd, 19:01.20) and Colin Graffeo (26th, 19:23.54) also finishing strong.
The Highlanders had a near-perfect score of just 30 points, easily outpacing runner-up Floyd County (85 points) and third-place Patrick County (86 points). The team’s victory featured all five scoring runners placing in the top 10 and earning All-Region honors.
