Roanoke College will host the NCAA South Regional cross country meet at Green Hill Park this Saturday. The meet will start at 11 am at the Roanoke County park just west of Salem.
The Maroons competed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference meet on November 1 at Bridgewater College. The RC men were third and the women were fifth as the Washington & Lee men and women both won ODAC titles.
The Roanoke men finished with 72 team points, putting them 40 behind second place Lynchburg but over 50 points clear of fourth place Shenandoah. Nathaniel Orban picked up First Team All-ODAC honors after finishing in sixth with a time of 25:53.3. Orban is the highest finisher for the Maroons since Chamberlain Zulauf placed sixth in 2021.
Orban was also selected as the Men’s Cross Country ODAC Rookie of the Meet after being the top freshman finisher on the day. He is the first Freshman/Rookie of the Year recipient since Ian Robinson in 2007 and is the third Maroon on the men’s side to recieve the award.
Shane Stevens made his way on to the second team with his 13th place finish at 26:32.3. Jackson Coombes and Ian Fellows topped off the All- ODAC performers as they found themselves on the third team after placing 13th and 19th respectively. Coombes ran a 26:40.0 while Fellows finished at 26:48.2.
In the women’s meet freshman Maya Herndon garnered All-ODAC third team laurels. Herndon is the first All-ODAC honoree for RC since Kerri Dalton in 2016. She is also the highest finisher for the Maroons since 2017 with her 17th place finish and a time of 23:50.4.
