GHS girls still looking for a win

Glenvar’s Raegan Duncan handles the ball against James River last Friday.

The Glenvar girls are still looking for a win. The Highlanders saw their four season losing streak reach 51 games Tuesday with a 67-23 loss to Radford at Glenvar High.

Audrey Moles led Glenvar in scoring against Radford and Grace Fiedler had seven.

Last Friday in Buchanan the Highlanders dropped a 52-32 decision to host James River. River jumped to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and the Highlanders never got the lead back under 10.

“We struggled to get back into a flow offensively,” said coach Cheryl Hayes.

Fiedler led Glenvar with 12 points while Raegan Duncan, Halie Watkins and Moles all chipped in a half dozen.

The Highlanders, now 0-9, will be at Martinsville for a Three Rivers District game tonight. On Friday they host Patrick County and next Monday the girls are home to Craig County. The Rockets beat Glenvar the first time around but Craig has lost four in a row and could be ripe for an upset against a Highlander team hungry for a win.
