Grace Fiedler looks for an open teammate Monday.

The Glenvar girls saw their four season losing streak reach 54 games Monday with a 49-35 loss to Craig County.

The Highlanders were in Martinsville last Thursday where they fell 51-29. Audrey Moles had eight points, Grace Fiedler and Zella Hayes had seven each and Chloe Meyer had eight rebounds.

On Friday the girls hosted Patrick County and were in the game into the fourth quarter before falling 51-38. Moles had 10 points, Hayes had eight and Ryan Jones had a dozen rebounds.

“We played much better in this game than we did in Martinsville,” said coach Cheryl Hayes.

On Monday at home the girls were only down eight early in the fourth quarter before the Rockets pulled away. Moles had 14, Zella Hayes had eight and Fiedler scored seven points.

The Highlanders were home to William Byrd on Wednesday night but results were too late for publication. On Friday they travel to Floyd, then they have back-to-back home games against Martinsville and Giles next Tuesday and Wednesday. Giles is 2-9 thus far.
