Virginia Western Community College students attend the Spring Fling campus
celebration. Students planning to attend Virginia Western in fall 2026 may apply
for scholarships by May 1. Free sessions are available in March and April to help
with that process.

The Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation is offering free help sessions in March and April for students seeking general scholarship opportunities at the college ahead of the May 1 deadline.

The scholarship application period opens March 1 and closes May 1.

“We currently offer more than 130 scholarships to a wide range of students — full and part time, traditional and adult learners — and in most programs of study,” said Annie Fentress, scholarship and Community College Access Program coordinator. “Award amounts vary from $500 to more than $3,000, while most scholarships are need-based and not tied to academic merit.”

Throughout March and April, Virginia Western staff will be available to help students navigate the scholarship application process and answer questions about funding, eligibility and availability.

The sessions are open to all students planning to attend Virginia Western in fall 2026. The events are free and no registration is required.

All sessions will be held in Webber Hall, Room 311, on the Virginia Western campus at 3098 Colonial Ave. SW.

Scheduled session dates and times are:
—March 6, 9-11 a.m.
— March 11, 10 a.m.-noon
— March 12, 2-4 p.m.
— March 23, 3-5 p.m.
— March 24, 2-4 p.m.
— April 1, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
— April 6, noon-2 p.m.
