The Roanoke College baseball team improved to 7-1 on the season when the Maroons swept Willliam Peace University at Salem Memorial Ballpark last Saturday. Roanoke took the first game, 13-4, and shut out the Pacers in the nightcap, 9-0.

In the opener Thomas Burgess grabbed his second mound win of the year after going six and two-thirds innings and allowing just four hits while striking out three. Freshman Noah Donaho recorded his first career home run in the sixth. He also accounted for three runs and two hits in the contest. Nate Prince led in RBIs with three and also had a pair of hits and a pair of walks.

In the second game Chase Booth was dominant on the mound as he picked up his second win. He struck out 10 in six innings of work and allowed just five baserunners on the day. Junior Riley Fitzgerald snagged his first save as a Maroon after allowing just two hits and striking out two over three innings.

Donaho continued to produce in game two, lacing a double in the sixth and hitting a three-run homer in the third. He finished the game with a team high four RBIs and now leads the team with nine runs batted in.

The Maroons were scheduled to host North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday and Mary Baldwin on Wednesday. This Saturday they open their ODAC schedule with a doubleheader against Bridgewater. The first game is scheduled to begin at 11 am.
