The Roanoke College softball team traveled to Buena Vista last Saturday and swept a doubleheader from host Southern Virginia University. The Maroons won 10-1 and 8-2 to up their record to 4-6 on the season.
In the opener Riley Shupe went three-for-three with a double and two runs scored to lead the Maroons. Ava Colontrelle slammed a three-run homer and Baylee Compton pitched four innings to earn the win.
In the second game Charlotte Gale was three-for-three with a pair of doubles and five runs batted in. Shupe had three more runs hits and scored three times for the Maroons. Grace Clary earned the win with five innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits and no walks.
The Maroons had two non-conference games against Mary Washington in Fredricksburg this week before heading to Harrisonburg Saturday for their ODAC opener. Eastern Mennonite University will host RC for a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.
